EmpowerHer: Empowering Women and Girls in Vocational Skills for Livelihood Improvement and Environmental Resilience
Location: Don Bosco Matumaini Vocational Training Center, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Duration: November 2024 - March 2025
The EmpowerHer Project, implemented by ENVIROCARE in partnership with CUSO International, aimed to empower 70 young women with practical vocational, entrepreneurial, and environmental skills to strengthen their economic independence and resilience. The project provided hands-on training in batik making, shampoo and gel production, bar and liquid soap making, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy to support sustainable livelihoods.
In addition, participants were equipped with knowledge and skills in climate change adaptation, sustainable resource management, water conservation, biodiversity conservation, sustainable farming, disaster resilience, and briquette production. By integrating livelihood development with environmental sustainability, the project enabled young women to become economically empowered while contributing to environmental conservation and sustainable community development.
